The Sea House Shout-Out – June 2026

Written byMatt

The latest news from Sea House Records and The Sea House Music Venue.

June 2026

Well, May flew by, and we at Sea House are busy prepping more original music recordings and live shows. Here’s a rundown of what’s new this month.

Matt Kassell, Head Honcho, 7th June.

Jim Templa

Jim Templa has joined the label, and we eagerly anticipate the album Songs From Carter Pool which is due out on Friday 12th June. Eleven superbly written and performed songs, taking influence from blues, rock, and the latter part of the 1960s, this collection is an example of great songwriting and playing.

Jim will also be appearing live at The Sea House on 27th June, see more below.

Calum Baird

Calum visited our locale last month when he played a set at Ulverston’s Hope & Anchor, he’s just back from a short European jaunt and he’s off again on tour this month and for the rest of the summer! What a busy boy.

Round-up of selected other artists this month

Sylanna

“Just a little update from me! I‘ve taken a bit of a break from gigs lately, but don‘t worry. The extra time has meant I‘ve been able to get stuck into writing, and I‘m pleased to say that my new single, Back Down, is currently in progress.

It‘s still early days, but I‘m excited about how it‘s shaping up, so watch this space for more updates. Thanks for sticking with me – your support means a lot, even when I disappear into songwriting mode armed only with coffee and questionable lyric ideas!”

Psyklones

“The next Psyklones album is nearly finished. One more song needs recording then mastering. We’ll be going in the studio in the next few weeks to do the final track.”

Prater Monks

“Prater Monks have a gig this Saturday 13th June at the Drill Hall, Ulverston along with some other bands: Joan Pope, Big Pharmer, Enfield and our own Jonny Swift.”

Jonny Swift

“Thanks Prater Monks. I have a new single out over the summer called Bicycle. Another track which follows with the theme of nostalgia and youth. Date TBC.”

Mark Docherty

“I am hard at work prepping my Coastroads festival set with the live band, and working on the second album; working title Murder Show Dreams

The Sea House

Last month’s electronic night was superb. A chilled, friendly, relaxed vibe all night with excellent sets from Aoire, Brapscallion, and Brass & Blaise. Thank you to those who came down. We’ll definitely do it again.

Coming up this month at the Sea House…

June sees us celebrate 41 years of local legends Radio KFK

Not many bands stay together long enough to see their Ruby anniversary, but Barrow’s Radio KFK have gone one better. This year the trio celebrate 41 years as a band, and we are delighted to host their only hometown gig of the year to celebrate.

Formed in 1985 as a rock and pop covers band, KFK’s lineup has changed over the years but the current power trio format of mainstays Pete Kassell (guitar) and Pete Fitzpatrick (bass) with current sticksman Neil Roberts is how the band are best known.

The band’s popularity was helped by Pete Kassell winning the prestigious UK Guitarist Of The Year competition in 1998, with the resultant album Both Kinds Of Music eventually released on the Seahouse label. Around this time the band’s mix of blues, rock, and guitar instrumentals won them a huge following around the North West of England, and they were regulars on the blues festival circuit.

What can we expect from KFK ‘26? A selection of timeless classic rock and blues, great instrumental playing and tight harmony vocals. We welcome them to the Sea House on Saturday 27th June.

Support comes from new Sea House signing Jim Templa, who will be performing an acoustic set of songs from the new album Songs From Carter Pool.
