A Seahouse September: Part 1

Written byFIWebteam

Hello hello! Is there anybody out there? It's September, and it's already shaping up to be a busy month here at Seahouse Records. We're all back to school after 6 weeks with nothing to do, and looking to cause trouble with the new teacher. But first, news!

Seahouse Mixtape #1 has been lovingly curated by the curiously lovely Jonny Swift. It's our very first compilation album, and features tracks from 16 of our artists. Some of these you will know, and some are brand new and exclusive to this compilation.

The album is available to stream and download on Bandcamp, and if you buy it today (Bandcamp Friday) they don't take a cut. So what finer time to support your favourite indie label?

One of the new tracks on Mixtape #1 is also released as a single today. Jennifer is the new tune by Jamie Bosanko and this one is a corker. Featuring Robbie Coplen on lead guitar, Emker Cel on bass and organ, and Dave Fox on drums, this one is a highlight of the live band set and is sure to stick in your head.

Find it everywhere, but here on Spotify, and have a look at the fabulous video, directed by Sophie Broadgate, which premieres at 7.30pm on YouTube tonight!

We had a new podcast out in late August, and this one features Emker Cel discussing his current single Understood.

The podcast tells the story of the song's development, from the initial piano riff, through to recording a demo with Field Music, and exploration of the final multitrack mix from Matt's Digital Man Studio.

Listen online via PodBean or on Spotify.

We have an event happening on Sunday 10th September at The Nan Tait Centre in Barrow.

Headspace aims to explore the relationship between music and mental health. Playing live will be Jamie Bosanko, Jonny Swift, Prater Monks and Emker Cel, who will also all be discussing their experiences of mental health, from how it informs their songwriting to how it plays a role in live performance, and how music can help promote good mental health.

Everyone is welcome, refreshments will be provided, and this event is free!

We would like to thank Women's Community Matters and BarrowFull for supporting us in this event, and we hope to see a few friendly faces there. The event will run from 2pm - 5pm.

That's almost it for now, we'll be back very soon with details of new singles from Grant Curnow and Jonny Swift, plus an album announcement from Emker Cel and an update on the Seahouse Scholarship programme.

Until then, thanks for reading, and please keep sharing our links: your support goes a long way and is hugely appreciated.

Peace and love from the Seahouse Records gang xxx

A Seahouse September - Part Deux

Alrighty then! Week one is done, we're back in the new school year, roles have been established, boundaries are being pushed, and somehow summer has returned. I have it on good authority that "it'll be like this 'til Halloween". Good job, cos vampires really don't like the sunlight (unless it's reflected off the moon, then […]
