Grant Curnow

GRANT CURNOW: WHERE COMEDY, FOLK, AND TIME TRAVEL COLLIDE

In a unique intersection of musical comedy, folk sensibilities, and sci-fi obsession, Grant Curnow defies easy categorization. Self-described as an "alternative comedian/tragic novelty folk singer – amateur time lord," Grant delivers performances that blend ukulele-driven music with clever wordplay and pop-culture references that resonate with audiences across the UK.

PERFORMANCE JOURNEY

Manchester-based Grant has built a reputation through consistent appearances at prestigious fringe festivals and comedy venues:

  • 2016: Debuted "Amateur Time Lord Hour" at Edinburgh Fringe Festival (PBH Fringe)
  • 2018: Returned to Edinburgh with "A New Folk"
  • 2022: Premiered "Salvador Dalek" at Edinburgh
  • Present: Currently touring "Salvador Dalek" throughout the UK

His comedy circuit credentials include performances at Leicester Comedy Festival, Faversham Fringe, Morecambe Fringe, Buxton Fringe, and Greater Manchester Fringe.

PERFORMANCE STYLE

Grant's distinctive approach combines the intimate musical connection of folk with the timing and wit of alternative comedy. Never seen without his ukulele and his trusted sidekick Mini Dalek, his performances create a world where musical skill meets comedic storytelling.

CULTURAL INFLUENCE

Drawing inspiration from British sci-fi culture, particularly Doctor Who, Grant has crafted a persona that celebrates nerd culture while making it accessible through humour and melody. His wordplay-heavy songs transform everyday observations and pop culture references into unexpected moments of both humour and poignancy.
